With an objective to increase sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities, Tripura University and Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 13, Monday, in Agartala.
The MoU was signed by Sh. R. K. Srivastava, Executive Director, NCDPD on behalf of BCDI and Dr. K. B. Jamatia, Registrar, Tripura University on behalf of Tripura University. The MoU was co-signed by Sh. Ravi K. Passi, President Advisory Committee, NCDPD and Prof. P. K. Haldar, Dean, Tripura University.
Prof. Arunoday Saha, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University said that, this is the first initiative of one of its own kind and will go a long way in overall development and supply of skilled, educated and technically qualified manpower.
Under the MoU, it was decided that the one-year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Bamboo Cultivation and Resource Utilisation conducted by the Tripura University will now be jointly organised by Tripura University and BCDI from academic year 2010-11 for the next five years with curriculum jointly prepared by experts from both the organisations.
