Two Integrated Design and Technical Development Project on Cane & Bamboo Craft at Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI), Lichubagan, Agartala, Tripura. The programme was inaugurated on 14 May 2010 at BCDI campus. The workshop on bamboo crafts is being held in BCDI-Agartala where as the workshop on Cane crafts is being held at Dharamnagar, Southern part of Tripura as specialized artisans/craftsmen of cane craft are available in this area. Beneficiaries of this workshop are the artisans/craftsmen engaged in Bamboo and Cane crafts. The main objective was to provide new and innovative designs and improve the technical skills of the artisans thereby produce market acceptable products. 50 craftsmen from each craft engaged in this activity. The duration of the workshop was 6 months. The product categories, on which the designers worked on, were house ware, tableware, bath, accessories, home accessories, decorative items and small furniture.
