Integrated Design & Technical DevelopmentProject on Cane & Bamboo craft
Two Integrated Design and Technical Development Project on Cane & Bamboo Craft approved by O/o. Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) vide sanction order No. J-12012/376/09-10/DS(NER)/1883 dtd 31.03.2010 have started at Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI), Lichubagan, Agartala, Tripura. The programme was inaugurated on 14 May 2010 at BCDI campus. The workshop for bamboo craft is being held in BCDI-Agartala. The workshop for Cane craft is being held at Dharamnagar, Southern part of Tripura because the specialised artisans/craftsmen of cane craft is available in this area.
The beneficiaries of this workshop are the artisans/craftsmen engaged in Bamboo and Cane crafts. The main objectives are to provide new and innovative designs and improve the technical skills of the artisans thereby produce market acceptable products. 50 craftsmen from each craft engaged in this activity. The duration of the workshop is 6 months.
The designers have started providing the designs to the artisans for the execution of 2 prototype/samples in each design for evaluation and review. The product categories are house ware, tableware, bath, accessories, home accessories, decorative items and small furnitures.
