STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP FOR PREPARATION OF INTEGRATED SCHEME FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF HANDICRAF

Stakeholder workshop for preparation of integrated scheme for development and promotion of handicrafts in North Eastern Region organized by IL&FS at Hotel Landmark, Guwahati on 26th September 2011. The workshop aimed to assess constraints, challenges and opportunities in terms of markets, inputs, credit, skill, policy etc. for handicraft sector in NER through consultation with various stakeholders. The meeting was chaired by Shri Rohit Bhardwaj, Director, O/o Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) who at the outset briefed the participants about the objectives of the workshop and invited the participants to express their views on various aspects of the proposed scheme. Dr. R.N. Pandey, participated in the workhop. During his presentation he informed the audience about recent developments at BCDI, exhibited some of the new technology prototypes and discussed about production related constraints relating to bamboo and cane handicrafts.
