Indian Furniture and accessories show was organized from 6th to 8th March 2011 at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. All the three days of the fair received more than 400 buyers including a large no.of first time visitor to Jodhpur.The fair have marked itself over the years as the only such international event for the sector in IndiaThe fair offered a unique opportunity for buyers to explore a wide range of products from a cross section of Indian handicraft manufacturers. The exhibitors from different parts of India participated in the Fair. Various trend setting products which are also eco friendly and recycled materials were showcased like bamboo and Mahagony, teak, sheesham, sisal, acacia, etc. Marble crafts likeTableTop, Decorative, Flower Pots, Wall panels, etc all beautifully crafted were also on display. Hand crafted materials with contemporary hand craved; painted, decorated woodwork as well as wooden lacquer ware of Rajasthan were appreciated by the visitors. In textile products too, vibrant range of colourful cushions, table cloth, bed sheets etc were on display. The BCDI, Agartala showcased theme based interiors using cane and bamboo furniture and home utility items. NCDPD set up BCDI booth at the fair to give boost to the bamboo and cane industry of North East Region. The 88 sq. m stall of BCDI was visited by the Secretary, Textiles Smt Rita Menon along with Shri S. S. Gupta, Development Commissioner(Handicrafts) and Shri R. K. Srivastava, ED, NCDPD. The BCDI pavilion stands out with its unique theme based product display. Many vibrant handicraft products brilliantly crafted and designed by NCDPD & BCDI designers were in display like bamboo and cane furniture, weave baskets, newspaper holders, gift items, table top accessories, and flattened bamboo mats, flattened bottle containers, beautiful lamps and many interior decorative. All these products were manufactured by using locally available materials by artisans/entrepreneur. BCDI has set up Bamboo Technology Centre (BTC) which provides the artisans Common Facility Centre through world class quality of machines imported from china, Singapore, Italy, etc. which in turn helps in the process and production of bamboo products. The Exclusively designed crafts of the artisan received great response from visitors both national and international. |
