Bamboo and Cane Development Institude (BCDI) participated in Tex Trends Made in India show, held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 2nd to 4th of February 2011. The NER THEME PAVILLION of BCDI was designed by National Centre for Design and Product Development (NCDPD) to promote bamboo and cane of NER. The pavilion was visited by Shri S. S. Gupta, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and ShriI Rohit Bharadwaj, Director, Office of DC(H) along with Shri R.K. Srivastava, Executive Director, NCDPD. Shri S S Gupta appreciated the excellent work of the designers .Designers of NCDPD and BCDI displayed a wide variety of bamboo and cane handicraft products ranging from elegant bamboo furnitures and beds, garden chairs, dinning set, beautiful lamp shades of different shapes, and designs, table top items , wall mats, interior décor accessories, fruit tray, flower baskets and vase, laundry baskets, gift boxes, paper baskets, etc.
The designers of NCDPD won silver trophy for best display award in the event. Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabakka Lakshmi and Secretary, Textiles, Smt Rita Menon awarded the
silver trophy to the designers. The thematic display of bamboo and cane got accolades from the entire industry. The pavilion and its products were appreciated by the visitors and buyers. Among the displayed products, contemporary designed furnitures and lamp shades got special attention and queries. Many orders were also received from the buyers.
